ASSIGNMENTS
It is the responsibility of the individual student to obtain and complete, within a reasonable period of time, the assignments and class work that may have been missed during a period of absence. This may be done by contacting the classroom teacher or another student in the same class.
Homework is part of the regular academic program and may be required in any subject area. The basic instructional program shall include all courses required by Education Law as well as other courses and programs the Board of Trustees determine to be beneficial to the students of the district (Policy 4310). Students are expected to complete and hand in assigned homework on time (Policy 4710). Homework will be evaluated. Check with your childās teacher about homework rules for his/her grade level. If work is missed due to absence, the student is expected to make up the work. Making homework a family commitment can help your child develop good study skills, self-discipline, and independence. The Board believes that parental involvement in studentsā homework is essential to making homework an integral part of the educational program. Parents are expected to encourage and monitor homework assignments and, to the extent possible, provide conditions that are conducive to their successful completion (Policy 4730). Students may not participate in extracurricular activities if homework is not completed.
Music: It is the studentās responsibility to bring their musical instrument for lessons and band practice. Students who do not bring their instruments three times in one report card period may not remain in band because it would affect the performance of other band members.
