CODE OF CONDUCT
Dress Code:
The Board believes that appropriate dress and grooming contribute to a positive and productive learning environment and expects students to dress appropriately for a school setting. This may include hair color/style, jewelry, make-up, and nails. (See ćRecess,ä page 13)
1. Studentās appearance will not create or threaten disruption of the educational process.
2. Ornamentation or jewelry shall not constitute a potential safety hazard.
3. Brief garments, such as those showing bare midriffs, tube tops, net tops, halter tops, bathing suits, spaghetti straps, plunging necklines (front and/or back) and short shorts (skirts and dresses should be below the fingertips), transparent garments, male tank tops with open sides, pajamas and beachwear are not appropriate.
4. Underwear is required to be completely covered with outer clothing.
5. Hats are not to be worn in the classroom during class time except for medical or religious reasons.
6. Shoes are to be worn at all times. Footwear (flip flops), which constitutes a safety hazard, is not permitted.
7. Clothing which bears an expression or insignia that is obscene, offensive, libelous and/or advocates racial/religious prejudice, substance use and encourages disruption is forbidden.
8. Sunglasses or nonprescription glasses are not to be worn in the building.
9. Students are to change into their basketball uniforms at game time. The uniforms are not to be worn during regular classes and are not meant to be part of Edinburgās dress code.
Students who violate the student dress code shall be required to modify their appearance by covering or removing the offending item and, if necessary, replacing it with an acceptable item. Any student who refuses to do so shall be subject to discipline. Any student who repeatedly fails to comply with the dress code shall be subject to further discipline, including out-of-school suspension.
