SAFETY PROGRAM
All students, employees, and visitors are to comply with federal and New York State safety laws and regulations. Unsafe conditions observed by any employee are to be promptly reported to the administration for corrective action. All employees are responsible for the safety of building occupants and are to file safety and health hazard reports with the Districtâs Safety Committee whenever a hazardous condition is encountered. In addition, school personnel shall be conscious of suspicious strangers loitering in or near the school. All visitors must sign in at the office window and wear a label for identification (Policies 8100 and 8135).
Training in exposure to toxic substances is provided to all employees to meet Federal HAZCOM standards. Employees who may be exposed to blood-borne pathogens (HIV and Hepatitis B) are trained in the use of universal precautions and offered immunization, as required (Policy 8123).
The Asbestos Management Plan for Edinburg Common School is available and kept on file at the main office at Edinburg Common School. These records may be reviewed during business hours
8:30 a.m. ö 4 p.m., Monday ö Friday. Parents/guardians will be notified of scheduled pesticide applications and may request to be notified 48 hours beforehand (Policy 8115).
