COST FOR LOST TEXTBOOKS/DESTRUCTION OF
SCHOOL PROPERTY
Students are expected to exercise reasonable care in using school materials, equipment or property, which is paid for with taxpayer money and state funds. Damage beyond normal wear and tear will be the responsibility of the student. Parents may be held financially responsible for reimbursing the District at the following rate for the cost of textbooks that are lost or destroyed beyond future use.

Two Years | 80% |
Three Years | 60% |
Four Years | 40% |
Five + years | 20% |
A record of all payments for lost or damaged books will be maintained by the business office. PAYMENT FOR BOOKS THAT ARE DAMAGED OR NOT RETURNED MUST BE PAID
BEFORE THE STUDENT MAY CONTINUE TO USE LIBRARY SERVICES. THIS RULE EXTENDS TO FOLLOWING YEARS FOR BOTH EDINBURG AND NORTHVILLE STUDENTS SINCE EDINBURG RESIDENTS PAY FOR NORTHVILLE STUDENTSâ TUITION. In the event that a lost book is later found and returned in that same school year, the money paid to replace the book will be refunded.
